I don't expect this video editor ever to replace a professional or paid application, but adding meaningful functionality at a reasonable pace would go a long way. I'd love to see transitions, improved audio control, and a regular stream of new features from Microsoft.

The app can also use hardware acceleration when exporting a video. To Microsoft's credit, the app can now backup and duplicate projects, which is an excellent addition. Easily view, edit, compare, create albums, and make movies of your special memories. Be empowered to do more with your photos and videos. Earlier this year, the app lost the ability to sync metadata across devices. Photos Legacy is the app for Microsoft’s Legacy Collections, Albums, and Video Editor. And, HEVC video requires installing additional codecs. You can easily add video files like MP4, WMV, MOV, AVI, MKV and M2TS, while you cannot edit FLV, VOB and ISO file with Windows hidden video editor. In fact, it's actually lost some features in two years. Microsoft Photos indeed is a good Windows 10 video editor, but it cannot edit all file types. Our favorite free photo editor is GIMP, which offers most of the premium features of Photoshop, including layers, masks, custom brushes and smart selection tools. But Microsoft hasn't done much with it since.
